Malaysia is truly unique in many ways. Where else can you find 2 shops claiming to be the authentic Bidor Pun Chun along the same mainroad?
the yellow sign board that did me in... I sauntered into the nearest coffee shop with an old yellow signboard declaring authenticity. I was sold. Afterall, the aged signboard looked convincingly vintage enough to be 'authentic'. The coffee shop next to the Caltex station I went in was quite empty and I cleverly concluded it must be due to the bad economy.
Bidor is well known for Pun Chun duck leg mee. I've been to Bidor a few times for banking matters and this is the first time I'm game to try their 'specialty.' Called up a Bidor friend who claimed to be having his lunch at Pun Chun as well. I said no way... why I cannot see you? It seems my friend is happily attacking his duck leg mee in the 'real' Pun Chun further along the same road. Me? I had pirated Pun Chun duck leg mee at RM6.50 per bowl. Ah well.... piracy has always been part of my life so no big deal.
Pirated Pun Chun was OK. The soup has plenty of 'gei-ji' and 'wai-san'. For those who dislike the taste of Chinese herbs, this is not for you. Must try the authentic one next time...
Ladies' fashion shops are abound in Bidor.
Let's face it, Bidor is no shopping haven. There's plenty of shops selling ladies' wear though. If you're into pasar malam fashion, then this is the place to be. No branded names in sight... (unless you count Adidos & Armany)
Oops, me bad. I take back what I said about Bidor not having branded names....
